NEW YORK Greece s five listed hotel companies received a boost to their share prices this week, amid optimism over new revenue streams in the run-up to the 2004 Olympic Games. Despite the Athens benchmark general index falling more than 50% since September 1999, five hotel companies: the Mussama Brothers, Divanis, Sani, Handris and Helios Hotels are known to have formally applied for an IPO on the Athens Bourse. It appears that the need to raise capital to take advantage of the investment opportunities ahead of the 2004 Olympic Games being hosted here outweighs the risks intrinsic to the stock market. A total of 55 investment proposals have been submitted to the development ministry, which this week proposed a one-week extension to the deadline for the submission of investment plans.
