CHICAGO— Hyatt Regency Chicago has introduced the Great Room, a new guestroom concept, as part of a $50 million renovation program under way at the 2,019-room property. The Hyatt Regency will offer 400 Great Rooms located on a distinct level of floors with separate check-in available. The Great Rooms are designed to appeal to the business traveler, according to Hyatt, with high-tech amenities and unique features. Each Great Room will have a floating bed with a desk on the reverse side of the headboard to separate the room into distinct living and work areas. The work area will have an oversized desk, dual-line cordless phone, dual-line speaker phone and incandescent lighting. To make guests feel at home, Great Rooms will have down blankets, fine linens, plush chairs and ottomans and unique artwork, according to Hyatt. Bathrooms feature granite countertops, oversized showers, bathrobes and Portico bath amenities. The 400 Great Rooms are expected to be completed by April. Standard guestrooms will also be renovated by early 2003. Additionally, much of the propertys meeting and event space is being refurbished.
