MADISON, WI—The Great Lakes Companies, based here, and developer of Great Wolf Lodge, has been awarded the “Industry Innovation Award” by the World Waterpark Association (WWA) for its “creativity in new themes and new ideas in water leisure.” Great Lakes’ shareholders accepted the award during the 2002 WWA 22nd Annual Symposium and Trade Show, held in October in Las Vegas, NV. This is the 10th anniversary for the Industry Innovation Award. Great Lakes joins Industry Innovation Award past recipients Disney and Nickelodeon. In addition to the Industry Innovation award, Great Lakes received two first place “Wave Review” marketing awards for best radio commercial and best brochure, on behalf of their Wisconsin Dells, WI Great Wolf Lodge property. Great Lakes currently owns and operates 16 hotels and resorts. Great Wolf Lodge in Wisconsin Dells, WI, and Great Bear Lodge in Sandusky, OH are the first of the Great Lodge Family of Resorts. Two additional Great Wolf Lodge resorts are under construction in Traverse City, MI, and Kansas City, KS., while other resorts are slated to break ground in 2003 in select markets through out the United States and Canada.
