Gettys Completes NY Hotel Renovation

CHICAGO The Gettys Group has completed a $10-million interior redesign at the Marriott East Side Hotel in New York City. The program was part of a $22 million renovation executed by the property s owner, Strategic Hotel Capital.

The hotel, located at Lexington Avenue and 49th Street, offers 647 guestrooms and suites, which have been upgraded with custom furnishings designed by Gettys. All of the guestrooms at the 80-year-old-hotel were updated in soft color tones and received case goods with soft lines, including a circular ottoman designed by Michael Dalton, senior project manager for Gettys.

The project was challenging, according to Gettys, due to the hotel s various room configurations. However, Gettys was able to work closely with Strategic Hotel Capital and Marriott, to come up with a functional solution and was able to accomplish a residential feel to the rooms, said Marriott East Side General Manager Richard Morse.
