LAS VEGAS–The Genting Group has acquired an 87-acre parcel on the Las Vegas Strip with plans to create Resort World Las Vegas, a gaming resort destination.
Malaysia-based Genting acquired the parcel from the Boyd Gaming Corp., which had started to develop it as The Echelon Resort & Casino before abandoning the project in the downturn.
The Genting Group envisions the first phase of Resorts World Las Vegas to include 3,500 hotel rooms as well as 175,000 sq. ft. of gaming space spread across several floors and a range of luxury restaurants and retail outlets.
Genting currently owns and manages gaming facilities in Malaysia, the Philippines, the UK, Singapore, the Bahamas and the State of New York.
