PARK CITY, UT— Gemstone Hospitality has been retained to oversee the operations for three independent, luxury resorts and hotels owned by a subsidiary of a large institutional investment corporation. Responsibilities are to include asset-management, management and master-planning. Included in this second major group of properties to be added to Gemstone’s management portfolio within the past 30 days are the Westward Look Resort, the Beverly Hills Inn and the Carmel River Inn. Located in Tucson, AZ, the historic Westward Look Resort features 244 rooms and suites on an 80-acre site. Built around a 1912 residence, the hotel has recently completed a $4.7-million upgrade and expansion, including a new conference center. Gemstone will provide asset-management and master-planning services for the facility. The 46-room Beverly Hills Inn, currently undergoing a $2-million renovation to upgrade the property to luxury status, is located near Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. For this Los Angeles site, Gemstone will manage the hotel and act as managing partner for the owners. In addition, the company will oversee the renovation, develop the property’s long-term positioning and strategy and be responsible for owner relations. Finally, Gemstone will manage and asset-manage the 43-room Carmel River Inn, located in Carmel, Calif. In addition to overseeing day-to-day operations, the full-service operating and asset-management company will help the owners develop a strategic, long-term master plan for the highest and best use of the 10-acre property situated one mile from downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea.
