NASHVILLE, TN— The Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center will launch a four-year, $45 million room renovation project this month. Guestrooms will be renovated in a more contemporary-style, a departure from the southern-plantation feel of the current furnishings and décor, according to Arthur Keith, senior vp and general manager of Gaylord Opryland. Each room will be refurbished with a pillowtop mattress, upgraded linens, custom draperies, new wall coverings, new carpeting, lamps, tables and accent furniture, Keith reported. Also, all double/double rooms will be converted to queen/queens, he noted. More than $85 million was spent in 2001 renovating Gaylord Opryland Resort, including 580 guestrooms in the Magnolia section. Beginning this month, Gaylord Opryland will begin renovations on the remaining 2,300 rooms and suites. The strategy of renovating approximately 500 rooms per year during the next four years will cause minimal interference in the guest experience, according to Keith.
