ORLANDO— Four Seasons Hotels is on the verge of buying 400 acres in Walt Disney Co.s Celebration community for a high-end resort, according to the Orlando Sentinel.. While the Disney-owned Celebration Co. would not comment on the developers identity, real estate sources said it is Four Seasons, said the report. The resort would be located on the southern extension of Celebration Boulevard, and would include a 400- to 450-room hotel, a golf course, 125 time-share units, and a limited number of single-family houses. Four Seasons officials could not be reached for comment, said the report. According to local land brokers, the company has been looking for a Central Florida location for at least the past two years. Purchase of the Celebration property is contingent on getting approval from Osceola County for changes to the communitys master plan. Four Seasons only Florida property is the Four Seasons Resort in Palm Beach, though it also plans to open a hotel in Miami next year. Toronto-based Four Seasons operates 53 hotels in 24 countries. The Four Seasons won’t be the only luxury hotel under development in the Orlando area. Marriott, with Thayer Lodging, is building a 584-room Ritz-Carlton in south Orange County. The hotel is part of a resort that includes a golf course and a 1,000-room JW Marriott Hotel. SOURCE: The Orlando Sentinel
