JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA—Continuing to expand its presence in Africa, Four Seasons signs a long-term management agreement with the owners of The Westcliff hotel.
Set on a cliffside garden estate in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg, the property was closed on June 30, 2013 to undergo significant enhancements including renovations and new construction. The hotel will reopen as Four Seasons Hotel Westcliff Johannesburg in the second quarter of 2014.
“Africa’s economic growth, improved stability and ease of travel have made the continent increasingly attractive to luxury travellers and Four Seasons,” stated Scott Woroch, EVP worldwide development for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. “Having a property in Johannesburg – the gateway to the whole of southern Africa – is essential as we explore opportunities for growth in South Africa and across the continent.”
Upon reopening, Four Seasons Hotel Westcliff Johannesburg will have a new restaurant and bar designed by UK-based hospitality design firm Blacksheep. An expanded outdoor terrace will offer vistas of the city’s tree canopy and Magaliesberg hills. The hotel will also include a new spa, fitness center and outdoor pool.
