LAS VEGAS Elsinore Corp. has, for a second time in less than a year, put the 19-story, 690-room Four Queens Hotel and Casino here up for sale as part of a plan to liquidate. Kennedy-Wilson has been retained to market the property.
The Four Queens downtown location makes it hard to compete against the newer, larger resorts such as the Paris Paris, Bellagio and Venetian on the Las Vegas Strip. Yet, with few development opportunities on the Strip left, attention is beginning to turn to the downtown area, which could help the bidding for the Four Queens.
Elsinore previously agreed to sell the property for about $30 million last year to PDS Financial Corp. of Las Vegas but the transaction fell apart last April. (1/22/01)
