NEW ORLEANS— After installing high-speed wireless Internet access back in April 2001, the Four Points by Sheraton New Orleans decided to uninstall the system due to numerous technical complications and guest dissatisfaction, according to Jamal Masoud/general manager of the hotel. Previously provided by Cisco Solutions, the wireless system was removed last month due to “technical glitches,” said Masoud. He added that guests needed to take their computers to the front desk to get set up, which most didn’t like, “especially those that worked for companies with firewalls.” Due to negative guest feedback and an overall dissatification with the systems performance, the hotel has decided to look for a new high-speed Internet access provider. “I still believe in the product and I think it will eventually take off,” said Masoud. —Diana M.
