BERLIN— HOTEL BUSINESS® has learned that Regent International Hotels and Dorint Hotels & Resorts have jointly added the first Regent hotel in Europe to the system. The Regent Schlosshotel Berlin, which was converted from a former Ritz-Carlton, joined Regent International Hotels on Jan. 1. Dorint Hotels & Resorts will manage the newly branded 54-room hotel with a license agreement from Regent International Hotels. The move initiates a new relationship between Dorint, one of Europes top hotel operators, and Regent, one of the worlds top luxury hotel companies. “We are thrilled to bring Regent to Europe and pleased to add this luxury hotel to the Regent system,” said Thomas Huffsmith, president of Regent International Hotels. “With its proven track record for operating some of Europes top hotels, we consider Dorint Hotels & Resorts the perfect partner and look forward to a long and prosperous relationship.” Built in 1914 as a private mansion, the new Regent Schlosshotel Berlin is located in a secluded wooded area just five minutes from the city center. Amenities include a health spa with pool and direct garden access, Jacuzzi and saunas, solarium, fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment, beauty shop, childrens playground and over 3,250 square feet of meeting and banquet space. —Shannon McMullen
