KANSAS CITY, KS— Focus Development, Inc. has broken ground for a 96-room Holiday Inn Express at The Legends at Village West here, where Focus already owns and operates a Hampton Inn Hotel. The Legends, an 805,000-square-foot, open-air lifestyle center, will be added to the Village West retail and entertainment destination development, and will offer specialty stores, unique retail, entertainment and dining venues. The Legends will be surrounded by major destinations, including leading outdoor retailer Cabelas, Nebraska Furniture Mart, Community America Ball Stadium for The Kansas City T-Bones, and the NASCAR Kansas Speedway. Village West is expected to serve over 10 million people annually. This will be the fourteenth Holiday Inn Express owned or managed by Focus, which is headed by president Jerry Good. When completed in the summer of 2005, the new Holiday Inn Express Village West will provide a heated indoor swimming pool with spa, a cardiovascular fitness center, a family suite, king bedded guest rooms with spa tubs, handicap access rooms, in-room hair dryers, cable television with premium movie channels, complimentary breakfast, telephones with data ports and wireless high-speed Internet service and a meeting room to accommodate up to 100 people.
