NEW YORK— A 2,400 square-foot conference center has been completed at Flatotel, an independent “lifestyle” hotel located here on West 52nd Street. The new facility is designed to offer more personalized and flexible space for the business community, according to Simon Elias, owner of the 46-story property. Located on the second floor, the main ballroom event space offers a variety of configurations and can accommodate up to 180 persons with adequate room for a 20-foot dance floor. Each of Flatotel’s four meeting rooms can accommodate 24 persons per room, classroom style. The entire floor will seat 200 persons and all meeting rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and amenities, including video-conferencing with built-in plasma screens, full telecommunications capabilities, high-speed Internet connection and catering facilities. “Most boutique hotels in New York City do not have the space to devote to a conference center, and we felt that was a major component missing for many business travelers,” said Elias, in a statement. Another distinctive event space at Flatotel is the Galleria, a 6,000-square-foot outdoor breezeway set under a soaring ceiling of skylights and festival lighting. The Galleria is equipped to handle sit-down dinners of up to 150 persons, a cocktail reception of up to 400 persons, or a banquet style function of up to 350 persons.
