MANAGUA, NICARAGUA A 95-room hotel housing a new Hard Rock Cafi is set to open here next month, thanks to an investment from the Seminole Tribe of Florida, said The Miami Herald .
The Hollywood, FL-based 2,500-member tribe is pouring money into Nicaraguas capital, hoping to get an early jump on the country s newest wave of foreign investment. So far, the tribe has invested about $10 million into a hotel and restaurant, in addition to a $3.5 million cattle ranch purchased two years ago.
The Seminoles have also purchased the Hard Rock franchise for all of Central and South America and the Caribbean. They expect to break ground in Costa Rica in two months, and hope to have six to eight restaurants operating within 18 months. Theyre also in negotiations with the Hooters chain and studying whether there is a market for casinos in Nicaragua, said the paper.
