PHOENIX— The new 735-room Westin Kierland Resort & Spa officially opened earlier this month. The $180-million urban resort will be managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. Located 20 miles from Sky Harbor International Airport, the property is Westins first branded full-scale destination resort in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. It is the centerpiece of the 730-acre, master-planned Kierland community. The hotel provides a picturesque silhouette that peaks with two-story twin bell towers atop the 11-story central structure and gradually steps down. The resort’s 735 guestrooms include 63 suites and 32 casita units. Additionally, the new property has more than 160,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor function space. For relaxation, there is the Troon-managed Kierland Golf Club with 27 holes of manicured grounds, a 900-foot flowing river, and tennis day or night. As an added benefit, the Westin Kierland is adjacent to Kierland Commons, a new shopping and dining district in Scottsdale. The resort also has a full-service spa.
