Famed Hotel Designer Dies

MIAMI Morris Lapidus, designer of such landmark hotels as the Fontainebleau and the Eden Roc, both located here, recently passed away of heart failure in his Miami Beach apartment.

Lapidus designed approximately 1,200 buildings including 250 hotels prior to his 1984 retirement. He is survived by his two sons, Alan, an architect and Richard, an attorney. (1/23/01)
