MIAMI BEACH Renown Asian hotelier, Adrian Zecha, is coming to South Beach, FL to develop a $150 million deluxe hotel-condominium project to be called The Setai Resort & Residences.
Indonesia-born Zecha is known as the founder of Singapore-based Amanresorts, a prestigious and profitable hotel group that consists of about a dozen boutique hotels. Zecha is developing his new South Beach project through a Singapore company he established to run larger hotels- General Hotel Management Ltd. (GMH). GMH is teaming up with veteran New York City-based real-estate developers, who have founded The Setai Group.
Construction is to start this spring on an eight-story hotel, which will have 90 rooms, and a 40-story condo tower, with about 190 apartments. Plans call for finishing the project late next year. (2/14/01)
