WASHINGTON, DC — The Fairmont Washington D.C. will host “Tickled Pink,” a fashion show and afternoon tea benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic. The event takes place on Saturday, March 27, 2004, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the hotel’s Colonnade Room. Celebrity and model mother-daughter duos will showcase the latest spring fashions from Tickled Pink, a Lilly Pulitzer Signature Store. Kathleen Mathews, anchor for ABC – 7, and daughter, Caroline; Michele Norris, host of NPR’s “All Things Considered,” and daughter, Aja; and Lauren Ashburn, managing editor, “USA Today Live,” and daughter, Juliette, are some of the celebrity models taking to the Fairmont runway to help support wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses. Bob Madigan, WTOP Radio’s “Man About Town” will serve as the Master of Ceremonies. Guests will also enjoy an afternoon tea directed by Fairmont Executive Chef Daryl Nagata. In December 2003, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts launched a brand-wide partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Fairmont Rooms from the Heart is a multi-faceted program under which Fairmont contributes financially and also partners in the granting of approximately 200 wishes each year. Additionally, Fairmont supports a network of employees’ fundraising and volunteering efforts for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Since 54% of all Make-A-Wish Foundation wishes are travel-related, Fairmont’s 43 resorts and city-center hotels are well positioned to help make them reality, noted Victoria Ames, CEO, Make-A-Wish Foundation International.
