NEW YORK—Since launching a complimentary digital newspaper service a year ago, Trump Hotel Collection has received positive feedback from guests seeking a wider selection of reading options. The collection adds to the luxury travel experience with a level of customized service for both international and domestic travelers to access daily news with just the touch of a finger, according to the brand.
The complimentary digital newspaper service provides guests with unlimited access to top newspapers and magazines through digital access to The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and the PressReader app, which features more than 2,500 domestic and international titles. PressReader is compatible with Apple iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows and Kindle.
“The feedback has been fantastic,” said Lisa Potts, SVP of sales and marketing for Trump Hotel Collection. “Our guests value the opportunity to choose how they receive services and amenities, and feeling that these have been customized to suit their individual preference. Many of our guests have also commented positively on being able to access news on-the-go, as well as catching up on their favorite magazines in their downtime.”
Personalizing the guest experience was paramount to the Trump Hotel Collection when developing this amenity, and the collection caters to the modern luxury traveler, according to Potts.
“We’ve aimed to provide our guests with the news sources that matter to them, in the digital way that they want to receive them—whether it be online or on their mobile devices, tablet or eReader,” said Potts. “So we looked to The Wall Street Journal, which provides information critical to our guests’ business and personal lives, and The New York Times, which has won more Pulitzer Prizes than any other news organization. By working with PressReader, we’re also able to connect our global guests to thousands of newspapers and magazines from around the world.”
The company’s research shows that guests are looking for a wider selection of reading options. “By providing digital access to more than 2,500 domestic and international titles, we are able to offer options in a fast and easily accessible way befitting the lifestyle of modern luxury travelers from around the globe,” said Potts.
Trump Hotel Collection initially started the program at Trump SoHo with The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. “We ran it for about a year and, even though it was an early adoption for a program like that, it was very successful,” said Potts. “Our guests had positive feedback and the financials were sound. After that period, we engaged PressReader, for variety, and worked with all three on blanket coverage for the brand.”
Upon checking into a Trump Hotel Collection property, guests are informed of the complimentary digital newspaper service. They are then provided with instructions on how to log on to each subscription service. Once connected to the property’s WiFi network, guests can access the multitude of reading material via The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times websites, and by downloading the PressReader application onto their devices.
This service is available brand-wide at all Trump Hotel Collection locations including the Trump International Hotel & Tower New York; Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago; Trump International Hotel Las Vegas; Trump International Hotel Waikiki Beach Walk; Trump SoHo New York; Trump Ocean Club International Hotel & Tower Panama; Trump International Hotel & Tower Toronto; Trump National Doral Miami; and Trump International Golf Links & Hotel, Ireland.
Trump Hotel Rio de Janeiro, Trump International Hotel & Tower Vancouver and Trump International Hotel, Washington, DC—a redevelopment of the historic Old Post Office Building—are slated to
open in 2016.
Presided over by Donald J. Trump and his three children—Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric—Trump Hotel Collection was launched in October 2007 to raise the bar on luxury hospitality with a level of customized service, which extends to its amenities such as The Spa at Trump and various fine dining options, according to the brand.
As the first luxury hotel brand to offer all three full-access digital subscriptions, this service also underscores Trump Hotel Collection’s commitment to sustainability by providing a paperless option for guests to receive news, according to Potts.
“Our properties do a great job of enhancing Trump Hotel Collection’s commitment to sustainability, resource conservation and local sourcing in thoughtful ways— whether purchasing renewable energy at Trump SoHo for the hotel’s electricity use or offering Tesla [electric car]charging stations at Trump Toronto,” she said. “While guests can still request complimentary newspapers, since rolling out this initiative, we’ve seen a reduction in the number of newspapers we provide of 80%.” HB
