LONDON Hotel values rose by some 7.6% across Europe last year, according to the European Hotel Valuation Index 2001 released by the local office of HVS International at the Cornell University Hospitality Industry Strategy Conference held here May 22. This compared with a 2.7% rise in 1999, 9.1% in 1998 and 12.0% in 1997.
The HVS index noted the majority of European markets experienced strong growth in RevPAR, led largely by increases in ADR. To this end, the clear winner in value-per-room growth in 2000 was the Amsterdam hotel marketplace, checking in with an increase of 21.9% in 2000. (5/22/01) Michael Billig
