DETROIT— Beginning just days ago, visitors to any of the 37 Marriott International properties located in southeast Michigan will be charged an additional $1.50 to $3 per day due to rising energy costs. Some of the properties affected include the Marriott Detroit Metro Airport, Marriott Detroit Renaissance Center and the Courtyard Detroit Downtown. According to Marriott executives, the charge is necessary due to the rising costs of electricity and natural gas. They noted, additionally, that Marriott International is not collecting any additional profit or revenue from the charge. Other cities in which the charges have been approved include Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Chicago, St. Louis and Cincinnati.
