GULFPORT, MS— Encore Enterprises, a developer and manager of commercial real estate, announced that it has acquired Pineapple Management Services, a hotel development and franchise company. Encore noted the acquisition expands its portfolio in the hotel industry with 11 more hotels franchised under brand names such as Fairfield Inn by Marriott, Courtyard by Marriott, Residence Inn by Marriott and SpringHill Suites by Marriott. Pineapple Management Services was the 23rd largest domestic franchisee of Marriott hotels in 2001, according to Encore. Encore President/CEO Patrick Barber noted that the acquisition of Pineapple Management “adds value for our investors and positions us to be a growing franchisee of Marriott International’s limited-service hotels.” Encore now has hotels in six states including Texas, Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana, Florida and Tennessee with four additional hotels being developed in those states as well. Glenn Pedersen, president of Pineapple Management Services, will continue in his position. In commenting on the acquisition Pedersen said Pineapple Management is now in a position to grow “to the next level a lot quicker. We plan to accomplish this through more acquisitions and third- party management contracts.”
