SAN ANTONIO, TX— The Alamos famous next-door neighbor, the historic Emily Morgan Hotel, is entering the final phase of an extensive renovation, including the creation of a new restaurant experience. “As we enter the busy summer season, we have completed the re-design of the rooms, are finishing our renovations to the new restaurant and bar, and completing final touches on many other details,” said General Manager H.L. “Scooter” Yates Jr. The 13-story, 177-room hotels new look includes completely contemporary-yet-classic interior designs for each unique room, featuring such amenities as down feather-top beds, CD player/stereo systems, and Jacuzzi tubs. A national advertising campaign and new website will debut in early summer. With many rooms overlooking the Shrine of Texas Liberty, the Emily Morgan has become a sought-after Texas hotel with occupancy rates regularly exceeding 70%, according to the property. Constructed in the 1920s as a medical building, the Gothic revivalist structure was converted to a hotel in 1985 and named after a famed heroine of Texas independence. The hotels new restaurant concept is being kept secret and will not be revealed until a soft opening in late June and a grand re-opening celebration in July. “It will be a unique reflection of New York flair tailored specifically to the laid-back lifestyle of San Antonio and South Texas,” Yates said.
