STAMFORD, CT—Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has opened its first hotel within its eco-wise Element portfolio, the Element Vaughan Southwest in Ontario.
The 152-room, extended-stay green hotel is part of the first major hotel brand to mandate that all properties pursue the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification for high-performance buildings.
The new property features Element signatures, such as common areas with 16-ft. windows, a patio with self-serve grills, and outdoor seating and loungers; light-filled suites with the signature Heavenly bed, 42-in. flat-screen TV, and desk with open shelving and ergonomic chair; and smoke-free suites, environmentally friendly “do not disturb” door magnets, and recycled tire flooring and mountings for art.
Additionally, the hotel offers soy-based fabrics in the suites, complimentary amenities for pets and pet-friendly suites; spa-inspired bathrooms with a rain-shower, dual-flush toilet and low-flow faucets and fixtures; and fully equipped en-suite gourmet kitchens with filtered water, energy efficient appliances and cooking utensils.
The property’s 24-hr. fitness center, MOTION, features Life Fitness cardio machines, strength training equipment and Element’s signature pedal-powered stationary bike charging station, which powers up personal electronic devices. In addition, the hotel offers an indoor saltwater pool, 3,500 sq. ft. of meeting space that can accommodate up to 150 attendees, and RESOURCE, a 24-hr. business center.
RISE is Element’s daily breakfast and RELAX is the hotel’s Monday-Thursday complimentary evening receptions. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. Mobile Salon Bars in the lobby are stocked with wines, beers, soft drinks and snacks after hours.
