EDITOR’S NOTE

Having just returned from the HX and BDNY shows in New York City, the realization hit: We’re wrapping up another year. And soon. In this business, you truly mark the (quick) passing of time by events, if that makes sense. As I was walking the floor, exploring booths and products, it felt as if it was just yesterday that we were last at the annual event at Javits.

We have just one more issue of 2019—the December 15 edition—and it’s our highly anticipated 10 to Watch where the editors select 10 industry professionals who have been making news and who we think will continue to make the headlines in 2020. I’ll give you the sneak peak of who they are now, but you’ll have to wait for the issue to drop to find out why Hotel Business thinks they’re worthy of making our annual list: Ritesh Agarwal, CEO/founder, OYO; Chris Green, president/CEO, Chesapeake Hospitality; Heather McCrory, CEO, North & Central America, Accor; Terry Dammeyer, president/CEO, White Lodging; Eric Breon, founder/CEO, Vacasa; Kristin Intress, CEO, WorldHotels; Shannon Knapp, president/CEO, Leading Hotels of the World; Jason Fudin, CEO, WhyHotel; Roger Bloss, president/CEO, Alternative Hospitality; and Alastair Thomann, CEO, Generator.

Also coming to you with the December 15 issue is the, perhaps, even more highly anticipated Green Book, now in its 23rd year. We can’t put one of these valuable resources together here at Hotel Business without thinking of our dear friend, the late Jay Schultz. It was his baby from the beginning, and his pride and joy for all the subsequent years he produced it with us. So, as the editorial staff once again begins the laborious process of collecting and presenting all the data, we now do it with a smile and nod to him.

That brings me to my annual call to action here in my Editor’s Note: If you have not completed a survey already this year, please stop reading and do so right now. If you already submitted an architects & designers survey, or one for brokers, construction companies, management companies, owners & developers, purchasing companies, or sources of funding, the information you previously submitted will be printed in the Green Book. If you missed the previous deadlines and the previous issues, now’s your chance to be included. We’re closing up the surveys right around Thanksgiving, so I urge you to head to archive.hotelbusiness.com and click on the surveys tab. All of the categories are listed; fill out the one appropriate for your company. Furthermore, the hotel brand companies must fill out another survey, as for this one, we update the information with Q2 numbers (the last time the survey appeared in print, we published Q1 data).

Please fill out as much information as possible—while we publish companies with N/As (information that was not provided to us), if your company is part of a ranked list, it will fall to the bottom of the list instead of landing in the appropriate spot amongst other companies.

Thanks in advance for helping us produce our—your—Green Book! HB
