NEW YORK— Thomas Downing has been appointed general manager of Trump International Hotel & Tower at One Central Park West here, replacing Rudy Tauscher, who resigned to pursue other hotel-management opportunities. In his new post, Downing oversees management of the buildings 158 privately owned condominiums as well as its 167 guestrooms and suites. A 15-year veteran of the hotel industry (holding down management, engineering and administration positions during that time), Downing has spent the past few years on-site here, responsible for the day-to-day operation of the hotel. He was initially hired as director of operations in 1996 (before the hotel opened), and was promoted to his most recent position as assistant general manager for the property in 1998. Previous industry stints include positions with the Four Seasons Hotel in New York as well as with Hiltons New York Vista Hotel.—Michael Billig
