PORT HURON, MI—DoubleTree by Hilton announced the opening of DoubleTree by Hilton, formerly the Thomas Edison Inn. The property reopens following a 12-month, $11-million renovation.
The hotel’s transformation will continue with the development of the new 40,000-sq.-ft. Blue Water Area Convention Center, on which the hotel will break ground in October in partnership with St. Clair County. The hotel is owned by JB Real Estate Development, LLC and managed by Illinois-based management company, Hospitality Specialists Inc.
The 149-room hotel presents a contemporary design incorporated throughout the building’s classic 1920’s aesthetic. Located along the St. Clair River at the base of Lake Huron, DoubleTree by Hilton Port Huron offers views of the Great Lake. An upgraded lobby incorporates the hotel’s vintage chandeliers and classic wood detailing.
DoubleTree by Hilton Port Huron offers 9,800 sq. ft. of meeting space for varying event needs with 13 flexible rooms, a 5,400 sq.-ft. ballroom that accommodates up to 600 guests and two boardrooms.
