NATIONAL REPORT—Developers and brands are in lockstep to keep the momentum going on new hotel openings. Here’s a few that are coming this year and next.
Dual-Brand Hilton Complex Set for NJ
Two new Hilton hotels will open under one roof at 1 Glenwood Ave. in Teaneck, NJ, this spring.
The Hampton Inn & Suites Teaneck/Glenpointe and Homewood Suites by Hilton Teaneck/Glenpointe will offer a combined 350 rooms and provide 1,230 sq. ft. of meeting space that can accommodate up to 100 persons.
Alfred Sanzari Enterprises is developing both properties and White Lodging will manage the complex.
Amenities will include a year-round swimming pool, a 24-hour fitness room and business center, free WiFi and a complimentary daily hot breakfast.
The dual-brand hotel is proximate local corporate offices of major companies in Bergen County and Northern New Jersey and near attractions such as MetLife Stadium, the Meadowlands Complex and the future American Dream development, as well as New York City across the Hudson River.
“Whether our guests stay for fun or business, a night or a few months, we are developing this property to accommodate their needs,” said Mitchell Heymann, director of sales and marketing for the development.
Tryp Hotel Emerging from School Building
In Pittsburgh, a Tryp by Wyndham will emerge from a former school building in the trendy Lawrenceville neighborhood.
The 108-room hotel is being developed by the Century Group, which owns and operates nine hotels across West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio, and will be designed by Pittsburgh firm Desmone Architects.
The hotel is slated to open next year.
“Lawrenceville is one of the country’s best-kept secrets: a vivacious district of Pittsburgh dripping with its own take on art, culture, food—and a whole network of breweries,” said Kate Ashton, brand SVP for Tryp by Wyndham. “We handpicked it as the next stop for Tryp as we expand into up-and-coming destinations travelers want to uncover.”
According to Wyndham, the brand expects to nearly double its U.S. portfolio in the coming year and has a pipeline of approximately 30 hotels, including openings in Long Island City, NY; El Paso, TX; Macon, GA; and Newark, NJ.
My Place to Double Presence in Colorado
Colorado Springs will soon welcome Colorado’s second My Place hotel, with construction underway at 369 Gleneagle Gate View, near I-25 and North Gate Blvd.
The three-story, 64-unit hotel is expected to open in the Pikes Peak region this summer.
Located 100 miles south of its sister property in Loveland, the property is the second hotel coming out of the ground via veteran local developer John Segelke.
Terry Kline, My Place EVP, franchise development, said Segelke has been integral to the brand’s growth along the I-25 corridor.
“John’s developments within Northern Colorado and Colorado Springs have connected key markets, offering regional guests what will certainly be another outstanding place to call their home away from home,” noted Kline.
