DETROIT— The Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau (DMCVB) will host a briefing Feb. 21 at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center to prepare for three upcoming conventions. Almost 100 members of Detroits hospitality community are expected to attend. Meeting planners from the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the Material Handling Industry of America and the American Concrete Industry will be on hand to discuss the details and needs of their groups and their upcoming conventions. SAE, scheduled for March 4-7, is Detroits largest annual trade show and brings more than $30 million in direct spending to the local economy, according to the DMCVB. The Material Handling Industry has held their trade show in Detroit biennially since 1992 and injects more than $15 million in direct spending. Dates for their show are April 8-11. The American Concrete Industry event is scheduled for April 21- 26. All shows will take place at Cobo Center.
