DES MOINES— Hotel Savery, an historic landmark hotel in downtown Des Moines, is converting to the Renaissance flag. The switchover occurs on Oct. 14, when the 224-room hotel will change its name to the Renaissance Savery Hotel. The property is owned and managed by Shaner Hotel Group, the privately owned hotel/conference center management and development company based in State College, PA, which currently operates 23 hotels in 15 states. Its portfolio includes nearly a dozen leading national brands. As part of its transition to the Renaissance brand, the Renaissance Savery Hotel has completed an extensive refurbishment. New décor includes new plush seating areas throughout to help create more of a residential feeling. A new retail shop also has also been added, and several small meeting rooms on the mezzanine level been given a completely new look, said the property. Other new looks include new uniforms for the Renaissance Savery Hotel staff. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Hotel Savery sits at the center of the downtown business district, near the State capitol, Des Moines Civic Center and Polk County Convention Center. The hotel has 11 meeting rooms, including three ballrooms and eight breakout rooms. The hotels 4,000-square-foot Penthouse Suite offers a view of Des Moines’s skyline.
