DENVER— Mayor Wellington E. Webb postponed constructing the $125 million, 518-room Westin Hotel at the Denver International Airport for at least six months, according to a GlobeSt.com report. Webb said the delay is prudent because of the weak economy, uncertainty regarding DIAs largest carrier, United Airlines, and a possible war with Iraq. With the delay, a new mayor and mostly new City Council will be able to re-evaluate the options for the hotel. DIA is one of the few major international airports in the country without a hotel at the terminal. Webb, however, said the city will continue to pursue building the new 1,100-room Hyatt Regency convention center hotel across from the Colorado Convention Center. SOURCE: GlobeSt.com
