PHOENIX— Joe Kane, president of Days Inn Worldwide, has received the 10th annual Lodging Conference’s Above and Beyond Award in recognition of his humanitarian efforts and contributions to the lodging industry during his 39-year career. Presenting the award at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel, here were Morris Laskey, CEO of Lodging Unlimited Inc., the show sponsor, and Mary Lou Koys, executive vp. Kane is the current secretary/general of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) and will serve as the organization’s volunteer vice chairman in 2005 and chairman in 2006. As an active AH&LA member for more than 30 years, Kane has served on its Council of Inns & Suites, Economy Lodging Council, Quality Assurance Committee, Experience Lodging Initiative panel and Chairman’s CEO Council.
