HOUSTON— David Villarrubia has been named general manager of the 1,200-room Hilton Americas-Houston in Houston, TX, scheduled for completion in late 2003. He most recently served in the same position at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport. A native of New Orleans, Villarrubia has held a number of positions during nearly 30 years with Hilton Hotels Corp. He began his career with the company in 1973 as a front desk agent at the Hilton New Orleans Airport. He has since served in several operations and managerial capacities including food and beverage director, executive assistant manager and general manager at Hilton hotels across the U.S., including the Hilton Atlanta Airport, the Hilton Jacksonville and the Hilton Seattle Airport. Situated in the heart of downtown Houston, the Hilton Americas – Houston is directly connected to the George R. Brown Convention Center and will open to guests in late 2003. When completed, the Hilton Americas-Houston will feature 91,500 square feet of flexible meeting space, a comprehensive business center, three restaurants, a lobby lounge, Java Coast Coffee Bar, and a 28,000-square-foot fitness center and spa.
