WASHINGTON, D.C.— The Marriott Wardman Park Hotel here was recently awarded the National Air Force Association Chairman and Presidential Citation, honoring the hotel’s longstanding partnership with the association and recognizing its service following the tragic events of September 11. The terrorist attacks on New York and D.C. resulted in the cancellation of the Air Force Association’s annual convention at the Wardman Park hotel, where the meeting has been held for the past 32 years. With only three-days notice, the Air Force Association canceled its meeting, scheduled for October, due to the beginning of the U.S. air strike campaign in Afghanistan. General Manager Ed Rudzinski was recognized recently, along with his staff, during a luncheon at the hotel for working proactively to address the unanticipated needs of the association and for their unwavering support and exceptional hospitality. Air Force Association National Chairman of the Board Thomas McKee and National President John Politi presented the award. The Air Force Association is an independent, nonprofit civilian aerospace organization that promotes understanding of aerospace power and national defense.
