ANNAPOLIS JUNCTION, MD— The new Courtyard by Marriott Fort Meade at National Business Park celebrated its grand opening last week at ceremonies presided over by John Marriott III, executive vp of lodging for Marriott International; James Donohoe, III, president and CEO of The Donohoe Companies; and Lt. Governor Michael Steele. The new 140-room hotel represents the Courtyard brand’s new “reinvented” prototype, Marriott noted. “Courtyard’s reinvention strategy is about keeping pace with the evolving needs of the business traveler. Our updated design concept provides greater comfort and functionality for our guests, and we are pleased to find that our ‘reinvented’ Courtyards are reporting dramatic improvements in guest satisfaction and revenue,” he said. The five-story hotel was developed by The Donohoe Companies, is operated by Hospitality Partners, and is owned by Donorundel, L.P., a partnership of The Donohoe Companies and Hospitality Partners. The property is the fourth Marriott-branded hotel developed by The Donohoe Companies in the past five years. The firm has a fifth Marriott under construction in Washington, D.C. For meetings, the Courtyard by Marriott Fort Meade features 1,400 square feet of meeting space equipped with high-speed Internet access. Other guest facilities and services include the Courtyard Café, exercise room, guest laundry and faxing/copying services. There is also a lobby-level business library with individual work stations, free high-speed Internet access and ergonomic chairs. The Market, a 24-hour pantry, offers sandwiches and salads and assorted beverages. Additionally, the Courtyard has a lounge and bar area and a “walk-around” front desk allowing for increased guest interaction and more personalized service. Newly designed guestrooms feature a modern, residential look and have a new bedding package with a thicker oversized mattress and large down pillows. The room also features a moveable console desk and space to unwind with either a sofa bed or oversized chair. Bathroom upgrades include granite vanities, full-length mirrors and enhanced lighting.
