NEW YORK- At a press conference hosted by the Cornell University School of Hotel Management here today, new Dean, David Butler noted that e-Cornell, the Universitys online platform for distance education for practicing hospitality managers, was “a major, major investment for Cornell. Cornell invested $12 million to launch the program, and chose to self-fund the project because it wanted to be sure that e-Cornell is faithful to [our]long-term educational vision.”
Distance learning is one facet of the seven-prong vision Dean Butler intends to realize during his tenure. The others are, to be the hospitality industrys leading provider of: face-to-face education for future leaders; rigorous and relevant research; face-to-face education for current leaders; management tools for practicing hospitality managers; courseware for corporate and academic hospitality educators; and lifelong learning models for hospitality managers.
