SAN DIEGO? Digital subscriber line service providers are turning to Copper Mountain Networks to support their high-speed Internet and data and voice services. Some of the company?s customers include Rhythms NetConnections and MCI WorldCom?s UUNet division, providers that offer DSL technology to small to mid-sized businesses. DSL is an emerging technology that involves converting regular phone lines into high-speed networks that deliver connectivity speeds up to 1.5 Mbps to users. Copper Mountain was founded in 1996 to develop and market a variety of DSL solutions that satisfy the ?bandwidth cravings? of end users. Recently, the company announced a new program that meets the needs of a multi-tenant unit (MTU) customer? such as a hotel or apartment building. Copper Mountain?s Copper-Powered Building program is a ?deployment package? that allows telecommunications carriers and service providers to offer high-speed Internet access and other voice and data services to these MTU customers. Turnkey Solution The program is a turnkey DSL solution centered around either a CopperEdge 200 or CopperEdge 150 series DSL concentrator with symmetric bandwidths at seven selectable speeds ranging from 128 kilobytes per second (Kbps) to 1.5 megabytes per second (Mbps). The CopperPowered Building program also includes CopperView Network Management software tools, a program for users to configure, diagnose and monitor all CopperEdge concentrators. In addition, Copper Mountain has a partnership with Lucent Technologies and its NetCare services to deliver installation, repair and maintenance of the concentrators network-wide.
