LOUISVILLE, KY–– Construction of two Marriott chain hotels, a 140-room Fairfield Inn and a 182-room SpringHill Suites, was marked with a ceremonial ground-breaking today. An investment group headed by Steve Poe is developing the two hotels in the downtown Louisville block which is bounded by First, Brook, Jefferson and Liberty streets. The project cost has been reported to be more than $30 million. Poe’s group, Louisville Jefferson Partners LLC, bought the 1.9-acre block for $8.25 million last year from a subsidiary of Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s HealthCare. Both hotels are expected to open in spring of 2008 and will be managed by White Lodging Services Corp., which is partnering with Poe on the venture.
