BRUSSELS— Clem Barter, president of Conrad Hotels, has promoted Darren Law to general manager of the Conrad Cairo and Ahmed Salama to general manager of the Conrad Sharm El Sheikh. Law, formerly GM of Sharm El Sheikh, will be responsible for the overall management, the operation and financial growth of the 617-room Conrad Cairo, the flagship property of Conrad Egypt. Prior to his appointment with Conrad, Law held positions within the Radisson Group in both Canada and the Caribbean, where he opened multiple casino and resort properties in the Cayman Islands, Aruba, St. Croix U.S.V.I. and the Dutch/French island of St. Maarten. Salama, formerly resident manager of the Conrad Cairo, will be in charge of the overall management of 400 employees, the operations and financial growth of the 351-room Sharm El Sheikh. Salama, a 20-year industry veteran, joined the Conrad Cairo as executive assistant manager and a member of its opening team. In 1999 he was promoted to resident manager.
