FORT LAUDERDALE, FL—Conrad Hotels & Resorts will welcome the Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort in early 2016.
Nestled between the boulevards of Sunrise and Las Olas, the new beachfront resort and residences are located near to Fort Lauderdale’s North Beach. The nautically inspired resort, built by architect Michael Graves, aims to channel the destination’s reputation as the “Venice of America,” paying homage to its waterways and yachting heritage with signature porthole windows and panoramic waterfront vistas.
“While Conrad boasts a portfolio of 24 luxury hotels in the Americas, Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort will be the first beachfront resort and residence for the brand in the region,” said John T.A. Vanderslice, global head, Conrad Hotels & Resorts.
Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort will offer 290 studio and suite accommodations, four indoor and alfresco dining experiences, a 4,000-sq.-ft. ocean view spa and fitness center, elevated deck oasis with an ocean-facing pool and cabanas, and nine meeting and event spaces. The South Florida-based architectural firm Garcia Stromberg, in collaboration with Julia Chi and interior design firm Stephen G Interiors, has updated Graves’ 24-story building.
The hotel’s porte cochere features an abstract sculpture by local architect and artist Peter Stromberg that runs the length of the entrance. The lobby includes ceilings featuring a series of pendulum light fixtures.
Each luxury yacht-inspired guestroom includes white furnishings and touches of natural elements like chestnut teak and leather. The bathrooms feature marble soaking tubs, rainfall showers and customizable bath products from four designer brands. Every room is equipped with a modern kitchenette with a Sub-Zero refrigerator and Wolf touchscreen stove top.
