ITHACA, NY— The Cornell School of Hotel Administration and the law firm of Bickel & Brewer announced the details of a hospitality conference that will address many issues including the “current storm” of disputes taking place between hotel management companies and hotel managers, owners and franchisers. Called “Strategies for Success: The 5th Annual Hospitality Law Institute,” the conference will explore the legal issues “driving the current crisis in confidence and litigation which is gripping the industry.” It will take place Oct. 24 – 25, 2002 at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers in New York City Dr. Bjorn Hanson, Hospitality & Leisure Global Industry Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, will be the keynote speaker at the conference. Hanson will offer a presentation titled, “The Crystal Ball: Looking into the Future of the Hospitality Industry.” Additionally, Sonya Hamlin, author and communications expert, will discuss the topic, “Mission Critical: Communicating to Key Industry Stakeholders.” The conference format will have legal, financial and management principals teaming up to discuss todays hospitality issues and offering analyses on each topic. Topics of discussion include: “The Ownership of Customer Information;” “Doing Business Post Sept. 11;” and “Woolley to Woodley and Beyond: Sojourn through the Seminal Cases.”
