OAXACA, MEXICO— Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels has negotiated the sale (at an undisclosed price) of the Club Med Huatulco here to Grupo Hotelero Brisas. The 552-room property— formerly owned and managed by Club Méditerranée S.A. as part of its international portfolio of Club Med villages— was offered free and clear of any brand or management affiliation. According to Gregory Rumpel, svp of Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels, “Grupo Brisas intends to redevelop the property as a luxury resort, similar to its offerings in Acapulco and Ixtapa.” Opened in 1988, Club Med Huatulco is located on the southern tip of the countrys Pacific Coast; an area comprising 10 miles of coastline, including nine bays. Club Med Huatulcos room-count is distributed among 30, three-story and two-story structures located in four village groupings. The resort contains 7,535 square feet of meeting space, and is located 20 minutes from the Huatulco International Airport.
