TAMPA Clearwater city commissioners last week unanimously approved an agreement that paves the way for a $65 million Marriott resort on prime property in Clearwater Beach. The project is slated to begin within the next 12 months and is the first major hotel to be built on the beach in about 20 years.
The project involves the construction of two 150-foot twin towers housing a total of 250 guestrooms. The hotel will feature 35,000 50,000 square feet of retail/restaurant space and a public pedestrian overpass from the hotel to the beach. (3/5/01)
