ORLANDO, FL— Clean the World Foundation and Guest Supply have partnered to provide 60,000 hygiene kits and linens to Hurricane Harvey victims in Houston.
Guest Supply is a subsidiary of Sysco, which is headquartered in Houston and employs 3,000 workers in the area.
“With a long-standing relationship with Clean the World, coupled with our personal connection to the people of Houston, we are honored to join forces to get hygiene supplies and linens to those in need,” said Paul Xenis, president of Guest Supply. “We manufacture some of the most needed products by those impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Guest Supply is currently shipping towels, washcloths, blankets, soaps, bottled amenities, toothbrushes, toothpaste and other essential personal-hygiene items that will be packaged into hygiene kits by Clean the World Foundation and sent to Houston.”
With the help of more than 300 volunteers, Clean the World has already packed and shipped more than 20,000 hygiene kits to Texas. These hygiene kits contain basic supplies that are the most needed by victims including three bars of soap, body wash, toothbrush, toothpaste, hand sanitizer and socks.
“We are working with relief organizations on the ground in Houston. It is reported that hygiene items and linens are the most needed outside of food and water. Our goal is to get to a minimum of 60,000 hygiene kits, which will help us serve the 30,000 displaced victims that are now living in shelters and with family members,” said Shawn Seipler, chairman of Clean the World Foundation. “We cannot do this without our continued relationship with Guest Supply. We are extremely thankful for their generous donation of supplies. Our commitment to recovery efforts will not end any time soon. We will continue shipping out hygiene kits as long as there is a need.”
Clean the World is working with a network of partners throughout Houston and the Greater South Texas region to ensure that families have access to the hygiene supplies they need to stay healthy and prevent the spread of life-threatening diseases. The organization’s greatest need to continue its mission is financial support and volunteers that can help package hygiene kits at its Orlando headquarters.
