LONDON— Roger Carr, chairman of British security services company Chubb Plc, is reported ready to take over as chairman of Six Continents, succeeding Ian Prosser when he leaves 6C next year, after 15 years with the company. Carr is also a non-executive director at Cadbury Schweppes and at Centrica, the supply arm of British Gas. As previously reported, the British newspaper the Observer said Prosser was due to leave Six Continents in 2003 when his contract ends, but might leave sooner. Until recently, Prosser had combined the role of chairman and CEO Recently, reports had fund manager Hermes warning 6C’s acquisition strategy was destroying shareholder value, citing in particular its take over of the Holiday Inn and Inter-Continental chains. However, Six Continents Plc was characterized this week in a report filed by Reuters as fully supporting Prosser and his strategies for the company. “The board stands very firmly behind the companys strategy as well as the management,” a spokesman told the news agency .
