SILVER SPRING, MD- Choice Hotels International has become the first international chain to venture into north Lebanon with the recent opening of the four-star Quality Inn hotel in Tripoli. The government, which owns the hotel, accelerated reconstruction work to cater to four Asian football teams, which will be participating in the Asian cup in October and staying at the Tripoli Quality Inn.
Choice Hotels entered the Lebanese market in 1998 with an agreement to manage Ramlet Baidas Savoy Comfort Hotel. The chain plans to manage five more hotels scattered around Beirut, Bekaa and Mount Lebanon. (9/27/00)
