ABERDEEN, SCOTLAND—The Chester Hotel here has named Alistair Unicomb its new operations manager.
Unicomb plans to increase overall profitability while maintaining and improving the hotel’s five-star standards, as well as developing the hotel’s wedding and special occasion business.
“When The Chester Hotel first opened last year, it was all about raising our profile in Aberdeen, which I think has been achieved,” he said. “My main focus now is ensuring our high standards are maintained and improved upon where possible, plus increasing both the efficiency of the service we provide—so that people keep coming back—and the overall profitability of the hotel.
Located on Queen’s Road, The Chester Hotel combines its 19th century architecture with contemporary design and completed a major renovation last year. Aberdeen-based interior design company Ambiance did the 54 guestrooms and two suites. Design consultants Graven Images, whose previous projects have included Hotel Missoni in Edinburgh and Blythswood Square in Glasgow, designed the public areas.
The hotel also offers conference facilities for up to 300 delegates and wedding suite venues for up to 300 guests. Executive Chef Kevin Dalgleish oversees IX Restaurant and private dining rooms.
There’s also a lounge/cocktail bar, gym, and beauty and nail treatment rooms.
The Chester Hotel is the latest venture of hoteliers Graham and Gillian Wood, who purchased the building in 2012.
