PARSIPPANY, NJ— Cendant Corp. subsidiary Galileo International has acquired Galileo Danmark, its distributor in Denmark, from Maersk Data. The terms of the cash transaction were not disclosed. Located in Copenhagen, Galileo Danmark is the sole distributor of Galileos services and products throughout Denmark. It is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Galileo International which itself was acquired by Cendant in October 2001 as part of Cendants entry into travel distribution services on a global basis. The acquisition of Galileo Danmark further extends Galileos Danish operations following the acquisition earlier in the year of Travelware Group, a major supplier of software solutions to the Scandinavian and European travel trade. Gordon Wilson, evp/managing director of Galileos EMEA region, said, “This acquisition enables us to take advantage of the tremendous opportunities in the Danish marketplace and add greater value for our customers through the tighter integration of Galileo Danmark with our global product development, support and marketing teams. By combining the knowledge and in-depth understanding of the local market with the resources of our global organization, Galileo Danmark is now well placed to respond quickly to changing customer requirements and market dynamics.” Over the past 12 months, Galileo has made significant investments in Scandinavia that support the companys ambitions for the Danish market. It recently completed the deployment of electronic ticketing with SAS taking the total to 13 carriers offering this functionality in the region through the Galileo system. Galileo SpecialAgent, a multi-language corporate self-booking tool aimed at small and medium enterprises is available in Danish as well as Swedish and Norwegian.
