MADRID— A major renovation of the Castellana Inter-Continental Madrid is in its final stages with work expected to be completed this month. The extensive project, begun in January 2001, included refurbishment of the hotel’s 307 guestrooms and the creation of a new Club Inter-Continental floor with a dedicated reception area where guests will be able to enjoy a welcome cocktail in the lounge before retreating to any one of the 93 Club rooms. These rooms offer complimentary continental breakfast, as well as unpacking, ironing and shoe-shining services. Guestrooms are now equipped with room safes large enough to fit laptops and equipped with sockets for their re-charging. Additionally, ISDN lines have been installed allowing high speed Internet access and windows are now fully sound-proof. The hotel also added a meeting room, fitness center with sauna and solarium terrace, and a new bar as part of the renovation program.
